Barnabas Ticha Muvhuti is an art historian and writer with research interests in the modern and contemporary art practices of Southern Africa. He holds a PhD in Art History from Rhodes University in South Africa. A member of the RIT research project of The Fletcher School at Tufts University (USA), he writes extensively on the integration experiences of migrants in Southern Africa. He has worked as a gallery assistant at the AVA Gallery in Cape Town and the Centre for African Studies Gallery (UCT), a research assistant and project manager at the Centre for Curating the Archive (UCT), and a research assistant for the Curatorial Department at the Zeitz MOCAA Museum (helping research for the ground-breaking When We See Us exhibition). He has written several exhibition reviews, opinion pieces, and carried out multiple interviews/conversations with artists and curators. He contributed to the African Artists: From 1882 to Now and ARTTHROB_: 25 Years of Art Writing in South Africa publications. Ticha was the first recipient of the ARAK Collection Art Writing Residency Fellowship, May-November 2023.
